Patrick Stewart Is Open to Reprising His Captain Picard Role
What is the first thing that you think of when someone says the name Patrick Stewart? My first thought is that this dude is a vampire, he never ages. Normal people think, Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The 75-year-old (vampire) was talking to IGN about his new series Blunt Talk. In the interview, Stewart was asked whether we would be seeing him play his most iconic character again. This is what he had to say:
"It’s possible. I think it’s unlikely. But it’s possible. The series wrapped over 25 years ago and we’ve got a rather elderly Captain Picard now. So I don’t know. It would be… it could be entertaining."
That doesn’t give a definite yes, but it is nice to know that he is up for reprising his role as Picard. I won’t call it a dead issue, due to the fact that the new timeline caused by the new Star Trek movies means any character can be seen again.
Frankly, I would love to see a new version of TNG. Something like a continuance of TNG where Picard is the Admiral for a new team on a continuing mission to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before. Or something like that. I would love to see that series.
