Patrick Stewart Reveals His Favorite Episode of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION

Star Trek: The Next Generation had 176 episodes, and most of them were really freakin’ good! It might be hard for anyone to choose a favorite, but Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Jean-Luc Pickard, didn’t hesitate when he was asked what he favorite episode was during a recent Reddit AMA

He revealed that his favorite episode was 1992’s “The Inner Light,” and he goes on to explain why:

“My favorite episode is ‘Inner Light.’ It was a beautiful script, which for me was almost entirely located away from the Enterprise—and it's crew! And because I was given the chance to perform what Picard would have been like if his life experience had been different. But another important reason is that I had a son in that episode who was played by my son, Daniel Stewart.”

This was a very different episode from the standard sci-fi formula that the series followed, so it makes sense that this one would stick out. The episode also won a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation after it first aired. I think it’s about time that I revisit this series. It’s been way too long since I’ve watched it.

I included a clip from "The Inner Light" below, which was episode 25 of the 5th season.

Tha launch of the probe and Picard's realization that he was the one it'll find.
