Peter Dinklage is Being Removed From DESTINY

I haven't spent a lot of time playing Destiny, but I've messed around with it a bit and have heard how fans, for the most part, were really excited to play the game when it debuted, but their excitement has dropped in the last few months. The new expansion Destiny: The Taken King may be the thing that gets fans excited again, thanks in part to its new missions, story, level cap, and weapons, but also because it's entirely replacing one of the most derided elements of the game: Peter Dinklage's voice work as Ghost.

Dinklage, who is a tremendous actor, has received a ton of disappointing reviews for his work as the floating robot AI, and so Game Informer reports that not only is Bungie replacing Dinklage with video game voiceover superstar Nolan North (Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, etc.), but they're also having North go back and re-record all of Dinklage's dialogue from earlier in the game, so there will be a single unified Ghost experience for players throughout the game. Here's what North had to say about taking over the role:

“I’m hoping we’re doing this for years. If I get a chance to continue with the role, I think we can evolve Ghost as we move forward over the years. In the same way that the player learns about the game and the world, maybe the Ghost grows with them.”

You can read more in the full piece at Game Informer, but what do you think about Dinklage's voice being replaced? Destiny: The Taken King arrives on September 15th.
