Peter Jackson Seemingly Announces He'll Be Directing a DOCTOR WHO Episode
There has been talk of The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson directing an episode of Doctor Who for some time now. Both Jackson and showrunner Steven Moffat have expressed interest in working together. Hell, Jackson said he'd direct an episode for free. Now it seems like it's actually going to happen.
Jackson has released a video that gives us our biggest tease yet that he is going to direct an episode. While polishing his Oscars, Jackson's daughter is reading him an e-mail from Moffat about Jackson directing Doctor Who. While they are having a conversation about this, Peter Capaldi shows up as The Doctor to deliver a message from Moffat directly.
There was also an interesting thing that I noticed in the video. There's a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion in frame the whole time. I'd like to think that this is a subtle hint that there's something brewing. I doubt it, though. I just don't know why he would purposely place that book there if it didn't mean anything.
While we wait to see what this all means, Doctor Who season nine will have its season finale, which is called “Hell Bent,” this Saturday. Enjoy the video!
