Peter Parker Was Going To Resurrect His Dead Loved Ones in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3
Um...what now?
Denis Leary recently spoke with IGN to promote his upcoming FX series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, and when asked about his thoughts about not being able to properly finish Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man film trilogy, he offered up some surprising information about the direction Webb and Sony were looking to take the franchise.
"Possibly in 3, there was this idea at one point that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died. So, there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3."
The Amazing Spider-Man films were always full of weird asides about mysteries of Peter Parker's dad's research, so maybe one of the things Peter would have discovered in the third movie is some kind of regeneration formula that his dad created. Or maybe Gwen's death would have affected him so greatly that he would have devoted his life to creating the formula on his own; he is a brilliant scientist, after all. Either way, this sounds like a totally bizarre way for that film series to progress, so it's probably a good thing Sony and Marvel were able to work out a deal that rebooted the character and allowed him to interact with the other Marvel heroes in the MCU.
Meanwhile, MTV sat down with Webb to get his take on Spidey's new reinvention, and they asked him about the elements he would have included in a sequel. Check out his response below:
