Production Officially Begins on AMC's PREACHER, Seth Rogen Tweets First Set Photo

Now that the cast has been locked in, production has officially begun on AMC's upcoming TV adaptation of Preacher, the seminal comic series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are directing the pilot, and they're executive producing the show alongside showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter) stars as Jesse Custer.

This is a banner day for fans of the comic series who've wanted to see this project make it to the screen. An adaptation has been in the works for over fifteen years in some form or another. People like Kevin Smith, James Marsden, Mark Steven Johnson, Sam Mendes, and DJ Caruso were involved in various attempts to get the property made into either a film or TV show, but it's Rogen and Goldberg who are finally managing to get it done. I share Rogen's excitement for the project, and I can't wait to see how they adapt this controversial series into a cable TV show.

Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, and has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned his responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making him answer for his dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers —a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.
