Rebel Wilson Had a Meeting for GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

As you know, Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has been developing a Ghostbusters reboot that will feature an all-female cast. I haven’t been a big fan of the concept of this iteration since it was first brought up. The director has been meeting with actresses to fill the roles that he’s created for the movie, and one of the actresses that he has met with is Pitch Perfect co-star Rebel Wilson.

Wilson revealed this little detail herself to Matt Lauer on The Today Show. When asked about the Ghostbusters film, she said,

“Look, I have had a meeting, but who knows? They have to look at the script when it’s finished. I would even do that without the money truck. I’d do that for free. I probably shouldn’t say that live on TV.”

I guess she’s one of the actresses that fit the style of the film and the story that Feig wants to tell. This really is going to be a very, very different version of the Ghostbusters story, that will in no way, shape, or form represent the Ghostbusters films we all know and love.

The director is still working on the script with screenwriter Katie Dippold, and they are scoping out actresses before it’s done, which is a normal thing for Hollywood to do.

Wilson is a funny actress, but it’s just hard for me to imagine a Ghostbusters movie with her style of comedy. She has worked with Feig before, though, so we know that she fits his brand of comedy, which doesn’t make me feel any better about this franchise.

No casting has been confirmed for the film yet, but one day it will be confirmed, and it will be interesting to see what the reaction is. Other actresses that have been suggested in the past are Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini, Emma Stone, Ellen DeGeneres, and Lena Dunham, and then there’s Bill Hader, who wants to be involved with it too.
