Remarkable Trailer for Neill Blomkamp's CHAPPIE

The first trailer has been released for Neill Blomkamp's futuristic sci-fi action-adventure film Chappie. This movie looks absolutely amazing, and I love the inspiring tone of this trailer. Blomkamp is the same director that brought us District 9 and Elysium, and this next project looks like it could be one of his best.

Chappie tells the story of an experimental robot humanoid with artificial intelligence who is "a gentle presence with a bulletproof metal skin programmed to paint pictures, write poetry and have original ideas." According to the synopsis, he is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own purposes. As his adventure plays out he builds up the capacity to think and feel for himself resulting in the next step of robot evolution.

The film stars Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, and he also did the motion capture work for the character as well. It also stars Ninja and Yolandi Visser, of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, as the two gangsters. The rest of the cast includes Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sigourney Weaver. The movie will be released on March 6th, 2015.
