Rick Astley Has Only Received $12 in Royalties From "Rickrolls"

As you may have seen this morning on Reddit, Rick Astley has only received $12 from "Rickrolling." Despite his current viewer count of "Never Gonna Give You Up" — 245,000,87 — he's not raking in the moolah. Astley himself doesn't seem too perturbed by this, as he was quoted in a 2010 interview as saying...

 "I think it's just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it...that's what's brilliant about the Internet."

There's no real way of telling what the single video could've netted Astley by now, but if you go off the theory of a dollar per thousand views he'd have close to a quarter of a million dollars. That's not a ton of money, but I'm sure it's a chunk of change he would rather have than not!

I think Astley deserves more money for the legacy he has left on the internet, don't you?
