Ridley Scott to Make a New Bible Film Based on King David

Yesterday the first trailer for Ridley Scott's Moses film Exodus: Gods and Kings was released, and it looks pretty damn good. The director isn't done with adapting Bible stories, though. According to Variety he's looking to adapt the story of King David for the big screen.

20th Century Fox has hired Jonathan Stokes to write the screenplay for the film, which is tentatively titled David.  The movie is inspired by the character from the "David and Goliath tale and [focuses] on the King of Israel. Though the plot is under wraps, it’s likely that the film would focus on the king’s reign post-Goliath."

As of right now Scott is only set to produce, but he's also looking to direct it as well. He is currently prepping to direct The Martian, starring Matt Damon, as well as the Prometheus sequel. I imagine the studio will wait until Scott's schedule frees up so he can direct the movie if it's something he would like to do.

The bible really is full of amazing stories that would make for great movies. He's picking the most popular ones, but there are other stories in there that would make even better films.
