Robert Rodriguez Developing a Backwoods Horror Movie Called BLOOD
Writer, director, and producer Robert Rodriguez is teaming up with Bold Films to develop a new horror movie called Blood. Rodriguez, who has directed films such as Sin City, Machete, Planet Terror, and From Dusk Til Dawn, is producing the film.
They've hired Jeff Buhler to take a crack at writing the script. He's worked on a few high-profile horror films that include the Jacob’s Ladder remake, the upcoming remake of Paramount’s Pet Sematary and The Midnight Meat Train.
Thanks to Variety, we have the following story description:
The story centers on a recently engaged woman who becomes determined to find her birth family before she marries. But when she meets her unusual kin in the deep woods of Florida, she begins reliving horrifying suppressed memories that lead her to believe her newfound relatives may be hiding some dark secrets.
Sounds like it could be a twisted and fun horror flick! Movies that take place in the backwoods of anywhere never turn out well.
There's no director attached to the project yet, but I don't think Rodriguez will be taking it on as he is currently in the middle of developing Alita: Battle Angel for producer James Cameron.
As for Bold Films, the production company being the film, they have developed some great films over the years that include Whiplash, Nightcrawler, Drive, The Neon Demon, and the upcoming Boston Marathon bombing film Stronger with Jake Gyllenhaal.
