Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer Cast in H.P. Lovecraft Animated Film

There have been many versions of H.P. Lovecraft’s work, and there are a lot of Lovecraft fans out there ready to soak it up. Well, if you are one of those fans, I have some good news for you.

The graphic novel Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom by Bruce Brown is being turned into an animated film. Deadline informed us that casting has begun, and the production has landed two big fish. Veteran actors Christopher Plummer and Ron Pearlman will be lending their talents to the movie. Here is what the report had to say about it:

"Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer have been cast in the upcoming animated film Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom from filmmaker (and Arcana Studios CEO) Sean Patrick O’Reilly. The film, based on Bruce Brown’s popular graphic novel of the same name, is being done in conjunction with Shout! Factory. Perlman will voice the role of Shoggoth, and Plummer has been cast in the role of Dr. Herbert West."

For those of you who are not familiar with the story, I will try to sum it up. The story follows a young Howard Lovecraft who visits his estranged father in a mental institute. In the meeting, his father gives him one piece of advice, do not read the Necronomicon. Thanks to his loving mother who gives him the book as a gift, he reads it. In doing so, it sends him to a different world that he must try to survive in. During his journey, he befriends a creature that he dubs Spot and adventures ensue.

It has been said that this is a great introduction into the world of H.P. Lovecraft. Of course, there are mixed reactions to it, and I wouldn’t expect anything less. I am eagerly anticipating this movie because it sounds like nothing less than a fun ride.
