Ron Perlman Continues His HELLBOY 3 Crusade, Says the Story Is "Mind-Blowing"
A couple weeks ago, from out of nowhere, Ron Perlman started to rally the fanboys and fangirls of the world to show their support for Hellboy 3. Perlman wants this movie to get made, because he strongly feels that they owe it to the fans.
There's not much more he can do at this point, as any kind of discussions that need to take place would have to be between the studios and director Guillermo del Toro. The actor continues his crusade though, and in a recent interview with Variety, he talks more about the project and says that the story for the third chapter is mind-blowing.
"The discussion has now overtaken me rather than me overtaking the discussion. And here I am in Monte Carlo, working on my suntan, and people are still asking me about Hellboy III, so I guess it’s still news. But I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve been telling everyone else, the Hellboy saga was meant to have a beginning, a middle and an end... we owe you a resolve."
"There will come a time where he will have to live up to his destiny, which is to be the beast of the apocalypse, or if he has to suppress that destiny by sacrificing himself in some way so as to not destroy mankind but do the opposite. And that’s the discussion of the third film; I think it’s a discussion worth having, and I think it’s something we owe the fans."
The actor hasn't had a chance to talk to Del Toro since he started pushing Hellboy 3 because the director has been so damn busy. However, he did reveal a few details about the director's original plans for the sequel:
"It’s in Guillermo’s head. And he’s shared enough of it with me to know that it will be mind-blowing. I mean it will be mind-blowing. It will be great cinema. And if you are somebody who followed the first two movies, it will be even more mind-blowing because we have something… if you liked the first one and the second one, we have something really rock ’em, shock ’em in the third one."
And now I just want this third movie to happen even more! These studios and investors need to pull their heads out of their asses and just let Del Toro make the damn thing! I understand it might take awhile to happen because Del Toro is so busy with other projects, but better late than never.
