RULES DON'T APPLY Trailer: Warren Beatty and The New Han Solo Explore 1950s Hollywood

Here's the final trailer for Warren Beatty's Rules Don't Apply, the Howard Hughes movie he's been trying to make for a staggering forty years. Beatty plays the eccentric Hughes in the film, while Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror) plays an up-and-coming actress who begins a love affair with one of Hughes' drivers, played by Alden Ehrenreich (the upcoming Han Solo spin-off).

This trailer is sort of all over the place. There are stretches where it appears to be a straightforward comedy, but there are also a few moments where it feels as if there's maybe something a bit more sinister going on. Is Hughes going to try to make a move on the young actress? Is this love story going to turn into a weird love triangle? I'm sure if it was just a lighthearted comedy, Beatty wouldn't have had to spend forty years trying to get it made, so we'll see what happens when it hits theaters.

Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Candice Bergen, Matthew Broderick, Dabney Coleman, Steve Coogan, Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Megan Hilty, Oliver Platt, and Martin Sheen also star, and Rules Don't Apply debuts at this year's AFI Film Fest before opening on November 23, 2016.

An aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty), who they work for. It's Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles.
