Rumored AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Plot Details Follow the "Infinity Gauntlet" Comic Story Arc
Some rumored plot details for Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War have surfaced. The two filmmakers are still in the process of developing the film, but this latest information tells us that the story they are developing comes from the Marvel Comic's 1990 crossover series Infinity Gauntlet.
This is the storyline I hoped that Marvel and the creative team behind the film would go with because it involves Thanos causing complete and utter chaos and destruction to impress Death. If you aren't familiar with the story, and you don't want to know the details of the story arc, then I suggest you stop reading now because there are possible spoilers ahead:
Here's a breakdown of the story from the LRM, which is where this rumor originated:
Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War will feature the Mad Titan Thanos trying to impress the personification of Death (who will be a woman). Thanos assembles all six Infinity Stones and utilizes the Gauntlet to have god-like powers. His grand plan is that Death will also feel love for him if he brings her enough "souls," so he decides to extinguish half the life in the universe to impress her.
Death - the personification of death - is going to be in Avengers: Infinity War. Previous fan rumors have noticed that Cate Blanchett's Hela could substitute for the Death character in the comics, and what we've learned doesn't prove or disprove this theory. We can only confirm that Death is in the movie and is female.
The Russos have said that are considering every option for which characters they will use in the film. We know several members of the Avengers will be there fighting alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. Nick Fury is also supposed to make his big return to the MCU in Infinity War, and since the Russos are considering everyone, there's a chance that The Defenders could show up as well.
Infinity War goes into production in November in Atlanta, and we've already seen a photo of Josh Brolin rehearsing and doing some performance capture work as Thanos. To catch up on all of our previous news on the film, click here.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters on May 4th 2018.
