Ryan Reynolds on DEADPOOL Easter Eggs and X-Men Movie Crossovers
Even though Marvel Studios isn't at Comic-Con this year, it doesn't mean we won't get to see some Marvel movie greatness. 20th Century Fox is bringing X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool to the convention this year, and fans are sure to love what they see when they take the stage in Hall H on Saturday.
While we wait to see what exactly they are going to give the fans, Ryan Reynolds sat down with Screen Rant to talk about the possibility of Deadpool making an appearance in the upcoming X-Men sequel or maybe even Hugh Jackman's Wolverine 3. This is what he said:
"That’s a damn good question. You tell me. It would be kind of hard, wouldn’t it? Because you have a character – let’s say you have a character who knows he’s in a comic book movie, that sort of breaks the fourth wall [and] has a tendency to kind of say people’s real names instead of their characters’ names. How do you introduce that into another universe that…does not do that? So…I don’t know. I’d be curious to say. I’m not saying that’s not going to happen. I don’t know if it’s going to happen. I would love to see that.
"You have to be very careful about how you do that because you don’t want to do a disservice to any one of these characters that are beloved by everyone."
It would be really hard for the studio to include Deadpool in these movies, but if they somehow found a way that could work, it would be incredibly cool to see! I just don't think it's going to happen. What I do hope happens, though, is that Deadpool becomes a huge success, and it blows up into a big movie franchise that stands on its own.
In another interview with MTV, Reynolds discussed the kinds of Easter Eggs we could expect to see in the Tim Miller-directed Deadpool movie. It seems like there are going to be more than enough to please both casual fans of the character and the hardcore fans as well. You can see what he has to say about that in the video interview below.
