SAMURAI JACK Is Back in Thrilling Animated Fan-Film
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack is one of the coolest cartoons to come out of the early 2000s. I freakin’ loved that series, and this animated fan-film made me realize how much I miss the damn thing.
The story centered on Samurai Jack (Phil LaMarr), a warrior-prince from feudal Japan whose duel with the demon Aku sent Jack into a distant future that was controlled by the demon. In the four seasons that the series was on the air, Jack was trying to find his way back to the past to prevent this terrible future he found himself in.
Unfortunately, the series was canceled, and we never got a conclusion to Jack’s adventure. For years Tartakovsky talked about doing a feature film, but for some reason he’s been unable to get it off the ground.
Thankfully, we have the fans to keep the spirit of Samurai Jack alive! This brief short is a marvelous tribute, and it perfectly captures the spirit of the series. It also includes the song “Know Thy Enemy” by Creative Assembly & Sega.
