Scoot McNairy Reportedly Playing [SPOILER] in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

This may be old news to some of you, but Heroic Hollywood is confirming a report from last year that reveals the identity of Scoot McNairy's character in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warning: there are potential spoilers ahead.

You may recognize McNairy from Argo, Monsters, Non-Stop, or the AMC show Halt & Catch Fire. Early speculation was that the actor might be playing The Flash since he was seen with greenscreen colored socks on, and many guessed those were in place for the post-production team to apply visual effects to speed up his running motion. But as soon as Ezra Miller was announced as The Flash, that theory crashed and burned. So who is McNairy actually playing in the movie?

Heroic Hollywood's sources confirm a report from a year ago that McNairy will be playing Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen. Apparently he was wearing those green socks because his character was injured during the battle between Superman and Zod in Man of Steel (which we saw from Bruce Wayne's perspective in the recent BVS trailer), and the injury is bad enough that Olsen loses both of his legs. That should provide an interesting wrinkle in his normally-chummy relationship with Superman as we move through these movies (if he survives long enough).

Keep in mind that McNairy's role has yet to be officially confirmed by Snyder or Warner Bros., but since this is the second time I'm hearing about it, I figured it was worth passing along in case it pans out and you hadn't heard about the report last year. What do you think? Do you think McNairy would make a good Jimmy? And if you don't buy the report, who do you think he's actually going to play in the film?
