Sean Astin and Paul Reiser Join STRANGER THINGS Season 2
Stranger Things Season 2 just added two fantastic new cast members! The Goonies and Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin and Aliens star Paul Reiser have just joined the highly-anticipated second season of the Netflix show. These are two actors who helped define the era of movies that inspired Stranger Things. Also joining them is Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen.
According to EW, Astin will play a character named Bob Newby, who is described as “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”
I love that got Astin involved with this series and I'm sure he'll be helping out in the electronics department. Who know, maybe the kids will be hanging out at RadioShack a lot for help in building some kind of device? I'm just speculating, but I'm sure Astin will have a fun role in the story.
Paul Reiser will play Dr. Owens, who's described as “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.” Perhaps he will be the new main villain of the second season as we still don't know what happened with Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) from season one.
As for Berthelsen, she has been cast as Roman. Her character is “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”
Could she possibly be another test subject for the experiments that Eleven was forced to endure? She obviously has a connection to someone involved with those experiments, but as of right now we can only speculate on what or who that could be.
The second season is set to premiere on Netflix in the summer of 2017 and I can't wait! For all of our Stranger Things Season 2 news, click here.
