Sean Gunn Offers Details on Kraglin’s Expanded Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

We’ve already heard a lot about the main characters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but today we have some new info on the character Kraglin. He’s played by director James Gunn’s brother Sean Gunn, and while talking to We Got This Covered, he revealed that Kraglin will have an expanded role this time around.

In case you need a reminder of who this character is, he’s basically Yondu’s right-hand man. He had a fun supporting role that got a decent amount of screen time in the first film. When talking about his role in the sequel and what his part in the story will be, Gunn said:

“Kraglin gets a little bit more to do in the second movie because it’s only a couple months after the first movie has ended. And Peter Quill is double-crossed Yondu and the Ravagers, and yet we haven’t gone after him really. So I think the other Ravagers are sort of like, ‘Wait a minute, what’s going on here? Where does your loyalty lie? Does your loyalty lie with Quill or is it with us?’ So, Kraglin has some decisions to make in terms of where he’s going to fall down, should mutiny go down. That’s always a very fun to play. You want to have a character who has some sort of moral dilemma. So that’s what was really exciting mostly about the second movie for me.”

Judging from what we’ve seen in the trailers it looks like there is some crazy mutiny that goes down with the Ravagers; I’m not sure if Kraglin was involved with it, though. Gunn also opened up about his involvement in Avengers: Infinity War as the stand-in for Rocket Raccoon saying:

“I have to point out that Kraglin is not currently in the next Avengers movie. I’m playing Rocket on set in Infinity War. I do double duty on Guardians. I play Kraglin on camera, and then I also play Rocket on set. So I work with the other actors and I do the motion reference for the visual set scene for Rocket, and that’s what I’m doing in Infinity War.”

That’s all he really had to say about that. Anyone involved with these projects are lucky to be a part of something so cool. I’m excited for what Marvel is getting ready unleash on the world.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5th and Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4th, 2018.
