Shane Black Says THE PREDATOR Does Not Take Place in Suburbia

Last week it was reported that Shane Black's The Predator would be set in the unlikely location of suburbia. It was explained that the story "plunks the deadly alien hunter, who audiences have seen fight in jungles, concrete jungles, frozen wastelands and alien planets, in the harsh environment of … suburbia."

I actually thought the concept of the Predator hunting his way through the suburbs was a cool concept! Unfortunately, it looks like that's not going to be the case. During an interview with Collider, writer and director Shane Black told them, "The Predator is not a movie about the suburbs."

Apparently, THR's sources were misinformed. So as of right now there is still no information on where the story is set or what the plot of the film will be. When previously talking about the film, Black offered the following insight:

“I think the Predator movies have slightly veered from typical sci-fi in that there is a sort of thriller aspect to them. I think it should be scary, I think it should be funny, and I think ultimately it should be wondrous and about perceiving things that human beings very seldom get a chance to see… I don’t mean movie audiences I mean characters in the movie. I’m not saying the movie will be nothing anyone’s seen before (laughs).”

As a fan of Black's film work, I'm sure he's going to give fans something exciting and unique with this film. Knowing Black, it will probably take place during Christmas. I'm looking forward to this new Predator movie, and I can't wait to learn more about what it's going to entail!
