Simon Pegg Accidentally Reveals a Stormtrooper's Identity in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
Over the past months there have been mountains of rumors surrounding J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Even though we've posted a lot, we haven't posted all of the rumors that hit the internet.
There was one unusual rumor that I remember seeing, but didn't pay much mind to. It involved a certain big actor who might show up in the film, but the rumor faded into obscurity until Simon Pegg accidentally revealed that the rumored actor would be playing a Stormtrooper in the movie.
Some diehard fans out there might consider this a SPOILER, so I'm throwing it out there so I don't get yelled at. Although, I just want to note, that there is nothing spoilerish about this. It's more like a bit of trivia that you'd never know unless someone told you.
So here's the information! While speaking with The Sun on the red carpet of his London premiere for Man Up, they asked him about his rumored involvement of the film, and it was at this point that he outed the Stormtrooper:
"I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper. … I shouldn’t have said that."
So there it is. Daniel Craig plays a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I imagine his part in the film is just a cameo, and who knows if he'll even take his helmet off. The news was pointed out to me on the UK Independent, who went on to report that an inside source revealed the following:
"Daniel [Craig] asked for some sort of secret cameo role - and was happy to have his name left off the posters. Fans will love trying to work out which covered-up character is him."
I'm sure it will eventually be pointed out to us what Stormtrooper Craig plays in the film, but until that day, we'll just be left guessing.
