Slick 1976 Darth Vader STAR WARS Costume Worn by Director Joe Johnston

Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston started his career working on Star Wars as a concept and storyboard artist. He also had the coolest Darth Vader costume on the planet! He wore this costume, inspired by Ralph McQuarrie's classic design, to the 1976 Industrial Light and Magic Halloween party, which was before the first movie was even released. You know what that means? Not only did Johnston design the Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett, but he also just might be the very first Star Wars cosplayer. My question is, where is that costume now!? This design for Darth Vader is just so badass. It's a shame they never used it in the original films. The person that he's standing next to in the photo is SFX artist John Dykstra.
