Slimer Confirmed for GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot
A few months ago it was rumored that Slimer might make an appearance in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot. That rumor has been confirmed by actor Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), who has a role in the movie as an FBI agent named Hawkins who works for the mayor.
While talking to Entertainment Weekly Radio recently, he revealed some information about his character saying that when the ghosts start to appear, Hawkins is part of a contingent that tells "the people it was a flash in the sky and 'Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.'"
Williams says he got to work with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, who play the new Ghostbusters in the film. After giving them high praise he said he was most excited that he got to share a scene with the franchise's signature ghost... Slimer.
"I’m not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope, but...I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I’m in a scene with Slimer! I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true."
So I think that's as solid as a confirmation that we're going to get, but I think it was always safe to assume that the ugly little spud would show up in this movie. After all, he's one of the franchise's most iconic characters. It will be fun to see Slimer back up on the big screen, and I'm curious to see what the new character design will look like.
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
The movie will be released on July 15th, 2016.
