Sorry, DEADPOOL's "Even More Raw" Director's Cut Isn't Happening After All
A couple of weeks ago, Deadpool actor T.J. Miller spoke at a fan event and revealed that the film's director's cut was going to be "even more raw" than the hard-R theatrical cut that fans went nuts for this past weekend. But it looks like the actor may have been misinformed or the plan has changed, because at a more recent Q&A with Collider, Deadpool director Tim Miller shut down the notion that there would be a director's cut at all.
“I don’t wanna be all Joss Whedon on you, but no there’s not [a director’s cut]… There are some deleted scenes that have some extra stuff, but I’m pretty happy with this cut. I like it.”
It sounds like they shot some extra violent material that Miller wanted to include, but producer Simon Kinberg talked him out of it:
“There’s some stuff on the DVD extras, I had a little more workshop fight in there that I liked—that’s the beat that we were talking about, [Simon’s] like, ‘Tim it’s violent enough, please’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no but man when he stomps on his face it’s awesome,’ and Simon’s like, ‘No we’ve got enough.’ (laughs)”
Sorry, Deadpool fans. Looks like you'll have to make do with some bonus features and the theatrical cut...at least until the sequel, that is.
