Stephen Amell: "An ARROW Movie Would — Should — Be Rated R"
When asked his opinion of the R-rated superhero movie trend, Stephen Amell pulled no punches Saturday at Chicago's Heroes and Villains Fest. The conversation started when a fan asked him what villain he would like to see for a potential (eventual) Arrow feature film. His response was pretty interesting...
"It'd be great if it were, like, a parade of villains...but overall I think it would have to be Deathstroke right?"
That first part of the response was interesting considering the shelved script for a Green Arrow film years ago that had the Green Arrow running through a gauntlet of foes in Iron Heights. Perhaps Amell is familiar with it? He kind of ran with the question at that point and really got into what he would want for a film:
"We get compared to Daredevil a lot and I love that...I always think of the things we could do if we had THEIR freedom. If we had the ability to cut off heads and show it? I absolutely would. I think an Arrow film would — SHOULD — be rated R."
He then went on to how he loved Deadpool and loves that it's opened the table for more R-rated hero films. He even gave an interesting little connection between the film and the show:
"All the stunt people who die on the bridge scene? They're all literally the same people I kill in season one of the show! It's crazy."
I'm not at all wanting every hero film to become rated R. I did however get a little excited when I heard Amell say this! I know that Arrow has evolved throughout the course of the show... but sometimes I miss the intensity of the first season! Are you for the idea of a rated R Arrow?
