SUICIDE SQUAD Movie Casting Rumors - Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and More
There was a lot of big DC Universe movie news yesterday. One of the biggest things announced was the full list of Superhero movies that the studio will be releasing through 2020. One of those movies included Suicide Squad, which will be released shortly after after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. A few weeks ago it was it was rumored that Fury director David Ayer would be directing the movie, and that was confirmed in the press release. Ayer is the perfect director to take on a project like this, and he's going to give us something awesome.
Now the casting is underway, and THR is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to fill the cast with big A-lister actors. They reveal that Ryan Gosling is wanted for a lead role, and that Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie have already been offered parts to appear in the film. They didn't really say who they would be playing in the movie, but according to El Mayimbe from Latino-Review, the team members who are in the script are Amanda Waller, Deadshot, Harkness, and Vixen.
They also say that Gosling is also up for Marvel's Doctor Strange, and that the actor is interested in doing it. So that adds to the ever-growing list of actors being considered for that movie.
Back to Suicide Squad! Now, just because Smith, Hardy, and Robbie have been offered roles in the film doesn't mean they are going to accept. Anything could happen at this point. It just shows you the kind of actors that the studio wants to play these characters. If it's not any of them it will be another line-up of big, bankable stars.
The Suicide Squad was introduced in 1959, and it focused on a team of supervillains who were given a second chance by the government for redemption. There's one catch though. They are sent out on deadly missions that will likely get them killed.
