Supercut: THE WIRE's Tautologies Are What They Are

David Simon's classic crime drama The Wire is considered by many to be the greatest TV show of all time. I'm not entirely certain where it'd rank on my own personal list if I were to make one, but I know it would be extremely high. Though the HBO series didn't garner considerable attention while it was still airing, the show has become downright legendary in the years since it went off the air, with people recommending it to their friends and word about it's quality slowly spreading. (The rise of binge-watching was instrumental.)

I didn't even know what a tautology was until I watched this video, but it's a phrase like, "It is what it is," or "if it happens, it happens" — you know the ones. And I didn't realize it at the time, but The Wire absolutely loved using tautologies across the series' run. Now PressPlay has edited them into a single supercut, and it just makes me want to go back and immerse myself in the show all over again. The game is the game...
