That Futuristic ROBIN HOOD Movie is Still Happening, and Now It Has a Director

The Hollywood Gang — the production company behind 300 and Immortals — has been trying to make a futuristic Robin Hood movie since at least 2009, and now they're finally inching closer to that goal. THR reports that, seven months after hiring writer Tony Lee to take a crack at the script, producer Gianni Nunnari has hired a director for the movie: Hasraf "HaZ" Dulull, who you may recognize as the director of I.R.I.S., Project Kronos, and Sync, all short films we've featured here on the site before.

“HaZ brings the grounded realistic approach to the world depicting technology and people in a not too distant dystopian London,” Nunnari said in a statement.

Dulull is a visual effects specialist who is currently making his feature directorial debut on a full-length adaptation of his short film Project Kronos. He certainly has a stylistic eye, but it remains to be seen if anyone — let alone an untested filmmaker — can pull off a futuristic Robin Hood film.

Production is scheduled to start sometime in 2017.
