The 5 Best Video Games Based Off Movies

It's hard for Hollywood to make a decent video game film, but it's even harder for the gaming industry to make decent video games based off movies. E.T. remains at the top of worst game lists. The Tron game was a big flop, and sure Batman has had his fair share of good games... but he's also had Batman Forever and Batman Begins, which speak for themselves in their mediocrity. I composed a list of some of the best video games directly spawned from a movie.

5. Power Rangers: The Movie: The Video Game (SNES/SEGA GENESIS)

I replayed this game recently, and I have to say it holds up much better than the movie. It's challenging, fun, and an all around great clone of the ever so popular arcade fighter you played in the 90s! Sure, it doesn't have music by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but the option to fight as your human self, and then morph on command is a great feeling, and the character selection was nice with a variation of moves per character... but who wasn't going White Ranger all the way back then?

Okay, so another interesting game I played lately that I figure that few people would actually know about is this one. I know what you're thinking...and it's one of either two things: "Power Rangers are lame!" or "Power Rangers are awesome!"...and the former opinion is usually based on generational differences while the latter is fueled largely by nostalgia.

4. THE MATRIX: The Path Of Neo (Multiplatform)

Who didn't watch The Matrix and think, "Man that would be a dope game"? Well, if you played any of the games developed from the series (including games like Max Payne, which borrowed "Bullet time") you'd agree, especially if you played the crown jewel amongst them, The Path Of Neo. You play as Neo, doing Chosen One stuff and what not, and pretty much operate on God mode from start to finish... except you can die. The gameplay is fun; the battles are intense, and I think if someone announced a sequel today no one would oppose it.

3. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Video Game (Xbox Live Arcade)

When people ask me what my favorite video game movie is, I usually say Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. I know it's not really a video game movie, but damn if it isn't a fantastic film that deals almost entirely in a world of video games. Plus the game was pretty solid as well. Using art work from the graphic novel, a nostalgic 8-bit soundtrack, and challenging gameplay this game was a great supplement to an already wonderful film - not to mention it was cheap!

As with an amazing game comes awesome new DLC. Time i decided to get my hands on it. Enjoy a play-through of Wallace Wells in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. After quickly levelling up using the techniques used to lend cash to other players. I decided to get into this game once again.

2. Super Star Wars Series (SNES)

Yes, I know there are a ton of Star Wars games for me to choose from, but this is the only one based (albeit remotely) off the movie. Chewie raiding Jabba's palace? With a blaster? I don't... what?

It's also one of the best, most challenging, and anger inducing games on the list as well. I recently tried to get through the game with infinite lives and a save state between levels and still managed to give up due to sheer frustration of the difficulty. I still love the game though.

1. Spiderman 2 (PS2/Xbox/GC)

How do you top great gameplay, voice acting by the actual movie actors, and additional cameos and side missions with other villains from the comic book universe?! Simple... you add Bruce Campbell as the narrator.

Seriously, this game was incredible from start to finish, and when you did finish it lets you keep playing with harder challenges and people to save! It's the best video game based off a movie I've ever played and still the best to this day.

Includes chapters 1 and 2 from the ps2 game Spider-Man 2. See Spider-Man falling to his death, protecting the arcade and doing some shopping, while the friendly tourguide Bruce Campbell gives out advice.

Obviously, like all lists, there are other people's opinions, choices, etc. Post them below!
