THE FLASH: Three Actresses in The Running (Get It?) For The DC Film's Female Lead
Last we heard about Warner Bros. and DC's big-screen version of The Flash, one-time director Seth Grahame-Smith had been replaced by Dope director Rick Famuyima. Today, a report has surfaced that Famuyima is considering reteaming with one of his Dope stars as he narrows his search for the film's female lead to star opposite Ezra Miller.
Variety says actress Kiersey Clemons (who played Diggy in Dope) is the director's top choice for the role, which insiders are claiming is Iris West, the character currently played by Candice Patton on The CW series. THR's Borys Kit jumped on Twitter to add two more names that are in contention for the role: Lucy Boynton (Sing Street) and singer Rita Ora (Fifty Shades of Grey, Southpaw).
The studio is reportedly keeping Grahame-Smith's screenplay, which he wrote based on a treatment by 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The Flash doesn't have a release date yet, but production is supposedly set to begin sometime this year. We'll next see Miller playing the Scarlet Speedster in Zack Snyder's Justice League on November 17, 2017.
