The Highly Acclaimed Japanese Anime Film YOUR NAME Now Has a U.S. Release Date

I've been hearing a lot of great things about the Japanese anime film Your Name, which was recently the recipient of the Best Animated Feature at the Los Angeles Film Critics Awards and is a likely contender for the Best Animated Film at the Oscars.

The film was directed by Makoto Shinkai, and the story follows two teenagers named Mitsuha and Taki "who mysteriously and randomly swap bodies. They are strangers, but they build a strong connection as their lives become intertwined. As they try to meet, they also aim to use their powers to prevent a disaster."

The film was a huge hit in Japan and has become the fourth highest-grossing film ever released in the country, behind Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited AwayJames Cameron's Titanic, and Disney's Frozen.

Funimation Films picked up the North American rights to the film, and they plan to release it on April 7th. I have yet to see the film but it looks fantastic! If you haven't seen a trailer for it yet, you can check it out a previously released trailer below. it certainly looks like a beautifully animated film worth watching.
