The Joker's True Name Will Be Revealed in JUSTICE LEAGUE #50
In Justice League #42, Batman sat in Metron's Mobius Chair and asked it what the true name of The Joker was. It wasn't revealed at the time, but the reaction Batman had after finding out was interesting enough for fans to want to learn more. I included that little part of the comic below for you to check out. We didn't know if DC would let readers in on the secret at the time, but the big reveal is officially coming!
During WonderCon this past weekend Justice League writer Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok said that The Joker's real name will be revealed in Justice League #50, which is due out next month, and that it will tell the story behind it. They told audiences:
“The answer probably won’t be an answer people predict.”
Many fans consider The Killing Joke to be the closest thing to an origin story that we got of the Joker up until this point, but it looks like that's all going to change. As for what the Joker thinks about his past, he memorably said in The Killing Joke:
“I’m not exactly sure what happened. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another… If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!”
Some teaser art was released that features The Joker as imagined by several different artists over the years. I'm not sure if The Joker's real name with drastically change anything, but Batman's reaction after learning it seems like it could be a big deal.
I'm kind of ok not knowing The Joker's identity. I like that it has been kept a mystery all of these years. The fact that we don't know who he is or have a clear background story is part of what makes him such a terrifying villain. Are you excited to finally learn Joker's true identity?
