THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Will Be a “90-Minute Easter Egg” of Batman Greatness

As a fan of how Batman was portrayed in The LEGO Movie, I'm looking forward to seeing his spinoff The LEGO Batman Movie. The stuff that I've seen for it so far has been absolutely hilarious, and I think that it has the potential to be even better than The LEGO Movie.

The movie is being directed by Chris McKay, but Phil Lord and Chris Miller are still producers on the project and helping steer it in the right direction. During a recent interview with Collider, Lord and Miller expressed their excitement for the film and how thrilled they are with how the project is coming along. Miller praised McKay's Batman fandom saying:

"Chris McKay, the director of the movie, is a real Batman aficionado and knows really arcane stuff that was only in one issue of the comic book in 1972, and that sort of thing."

Lord added the McKay is so hardcore that "he has a very large Catwoman tattoo on his forearm." It's good to know that they've got such a big fan bringing this movie to life. Because they do have someone who's so knowledgeable about the character, you can expect to see lots of Easter eggs. In fact, Miller described the film as one big Easter egg:

"So, it is chock full of stuff for Batman aficionados. It is just a 90-minute Easter egg."

Lord added that it heavily honors the comics and reveals that it "covers all the way through to Batman v Superman" and "all the way through and to the future."

Will Arnett is reprising his role as Batman, and he will be joined by Zach Galifianakis (Joker), Ralph Fiennes (Alfred), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl), Michael Cera (Robin), and Mariah Carey (Mayor Grange). In case you missed the trailer for the film, make sure to click here to check it out!
