THE OMEN TV Series Gets a Full Season Order from Lifetime
I never watch Lifetime, but they are starting to develop things that I'm actually interested in watching. First it was Stephen King's Big Driver, then it was that Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story, now it's a new TV series based on the 1976 horror film The Omen.
The thriller is called Damien, and it comes from former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara. The network ordered a six episode season that is targeted to air early next year.
According to Variety, the series "picks up from the movie’s storyline by focusing on the adult life of Damien Thorn as he realizes he is the Antichrist." Lifetime executive and VP Rob Sharenow had this to say in a statement:
"Glen Mazzara has re-imagined him as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original."
I'm a big fan of the original horror movie, and they are definitely taking it in a direction I didn't expect. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it will be interesting to see the story of Damian continue.
