THE RAID and FAST & FURIOUS 6 Star Joe Taslim Joins STAR TREK BEYOND
Gareth Evans' masterful martial arts film The Raid has proven to be a pool of great action talent Hollywood has been eager to thrust into bigger projects. Many of the cast members reportedly have roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now it seems that the latest entry in that other big space-set franchise, Star Trek Beyond, has nabbed one of the actors for its own.
THR says that Joe Taslim, who you may also recognize as the guy who kicks Han and Roman's asses in Fast & Furious 6, has joined the cast of the upcoming space adventure. This makes sense, considering Fast 6 helmer Justin Lin is directing Star Trek Beyond. Not much is known about the plot at this point (which is fine with me - let's be surprised by something for once!), but Taslim is reportedly playing "a key part opposite [Idris] Elba, who plays a villain."
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and Alice Eve are all returning to reprise their roles, and Star Trek Beyond arrives in theaters on July 8th, 2016 — now with presumably more ass kicking.
