The STRANGER THINGS Cast Has Some Major Musical Talent
Netflix's Stranger Things has been the show of the summer, and as soon as I finished the series, I dove headlong into a ton of articles about it. One of the things I noticed in all of my borderline-obsessive reading was that a bunch of the kids who star in the show are talented not only at acting, but playing music or singing as well. So I wanted to give a quick breakdown of some of their musical acumen in case you weren't aware:
First up, Gaten Matazarro (Dustin). This dude has some serious chops and has appeared in Les Miserables on Broadway. Take a listen to him absolutely slaying the song "Bring Him Home" from that musical two years ago:
And here he is singing something a little more modern:
Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) has a whole YouTube channel devoted to her singing pretty awesome covers, but I think I like this one of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good."
She also does a pretty excellent version of Adele's "When We Were Young," which seems like a really difficult song to pull off.
The awesomely-named Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) took to Twitter the other day to share a quick video of him playing a cover of Nirvana's "Lithium," and he says he'll be putting a full cover song on his YouTube page soon.
Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) is also a drummer, and he played for a band called Comanechi before breaking out in Stranger Things:
As for Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), he appeared as Young Simba in The Lion King on Broadway. Video of that performance is a little hard to come by, but there's always this gem in which he and Gaten tried to recreate the show's awesome instrumental intro with only their mouths:
Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix now.
