THE WIRE Creator David Simon Developing New Series for HBO!
The Wire creator David Simon has set up a new series at HBO called Show Me a Hero. It will be a six-hour miniseries based on the civil rights book of the same name written by Lisa Belkin. Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VII) and Catherine Keener (The 40 Year Old Virgin) will star in the series.
The story follows "a young Yonkers mayor who is faced with a federal court order requiring that he build a small number of low-income housing units in his town’s Caucasian neighborhoods. His attempt to do so tears the entire city apart, paralyzes the entire municipal government and, ultimately, destroys [him] and his political future. The series takes place in the 1980s and 90s."
Isaac will play Nick Wasicsko in the story, "the politiican at the center of this controversy." Keener is set to play Mary Dorman, "an East Yonkers homeowner who comes to a remarkable realization during the battle over where to build low-income housing."
Simon is one hell of a talented individual. He created one of the greatest series ever made, and I'm confident he'll develop yet another amazing project.
