THE X-FILES Season 11 Has a Premiere Date!
FOX has finally revealed the premiere date for The X-Files Season 11! It will premiere alongside the Ryan Murphy drama 9-1-1 on Wednesday, January 3rd!
This next The X-Files event series will consist of ten episodes. Two of them will continue the saga story, and the rest will be more standalone "monster of the week" episodes. I'm so excited to see what creator Chris Carter and his team have in store. When teasing what we can expect, a previous report revealed:
With more monster-of-the-week episodes this season, fans can expect season 11 to be united in theme but varied in tone. After episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers. But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.
Carter has also said that we’ll get a "new angle" on Mulder and Scully’s long-suffering FBI boss, Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) which is said to be an origin episode. He also adds that “Familiar alliances are rattled”.
The series brings back David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson who are returning to their roles of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as Walter Skinner along with Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, and Haley Joel Osment.
