This Is What THE SHINING Would Look Like If It Was Directed By David Lynch

There's something ineffable about Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, a bizarre, unsettling quality that permeates the entire film. Author Stephen King famously didn't approve of Kubrick's adaptation of his story, and I doubt he'd have approved this version, which explores what The Shining may have looked like if David Lynch had directed it. Lynch's films have a similar sense of unease to them, and they often don't play by the normal cinematic "rules" that are found in mainstream motion pictures.

Richard Vezina (via IndieWire) has created a frightening, surreal, nightmare-fueled vision of what might happen if the work of two of cinema's most singular personalities was smashed together. And at just over eight and a half minutes, this is much more than your typical one-joke mash-up. Check it out below:

What would The Shining look like had it been directed by David Lynch? Would it be a dream or a nightmare? Blue Shining combines both worlds in a playful manner by integrating elements from Lynch's films into Kubrick's movie to give the Stephen King classic a Lynchian atmosphere.
