This New MAX STEEL Trailer Is Better Than the First One But Will It Sell You on the Movie?
Open Road Films and Mattel have released the first domestic trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation of Max Steel. The movie is based on Mattle's action figure line and animated series from the late '90s/early 2000s. This latest trailer is a lot better than the last international trailer that was released about a week ago. That thing was a mess, but this one is cut together so much better. You actually get a sense of what is going on and what the film is about. That being said, I'm still not sold on Max Steel. That first trailer left a bad taste in my mouth. I need to see more.
I have hope that it will be good, though, mostly because the script was written by Christopher Yost. He is the screenwriter of films such as Hulk Vs., Thor: The Dark World, and Thor: Ragnarok. I've also enjoyed his work on X-Men: Evolution, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Wolverine and the X-Men. Hopefully he managed to write a solid script.
16-year old MAX MCGRATH has just moved to a new town - and is desperately trying to fit in - when he discovers his body can generate the universe’s most powerful energy. Unbeknown to Max, a slightly rebellious and hilarious techno-organic extraterrestrial named Steel has been keeping an eye on him, hungry for his super-human energy. When they finally meet, they discover that together they form MAX STEEL, a superhero possessing powerful strength beyond anything in our world. These two unlikely friends soon find themselves hunted by sinister forces who want to control Max’s powers, as well as an unstoppable enemy from another galaxy.
The movie is being directed by Stewart Hendler (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn) and stars Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, Ana Villafane as Sofia Martinez, Maria Bello, and Andy Garcia. The movie is set to be released on October 14th. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think. Are you sold on it?
