THOR: RAGNAROK Will Reportedly Include PLANET HULK Elements
It seems like Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be something incredible. There’s a lot of rumored information that has been leaking out regarding the story, but we know for sure that Hulk and Thor will be embarking on a cosmic adventure in which they will have to battle Hela and her armies.
Now, according to JoBlo, it sounds like Thor: Ragnarok will also feature elements from the classic Planet Hulk story arc. A lot of fans like myself have been hoping to see Planet Hulk adopted into a movie one day, and it looks like this upcoming Thor film might be the closest we get to seeing that. Possible SPOILERS ahead:

The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.
It's been previously rumored that Cate Blanchett’s Hela will be joining forces with Tom Hiddleston's Loki to take over Asgard. After this happens, Chris Hemsworth's Thor is said to be exiled into deep space, in order to prevent his interference with their plans. It’s at this point that Thor would land on an alien planet where he would be imprisoned and forced into gladiatorial combat.
Thor obviously needs to escape so he can get back to Asgard to take it back from Hela and Loki. As he fights his way through one gladiatorial match after another, he comes face to face with the reigning champion…the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). You can imagine that at this point they eventually have to team up and escape together. The main mission of Thor is said to be that he needs to find the ultimate weapon to stop Ragnarok and reset the universe.
These are all just rumors at the moment because the studio hasn’t officially confirmed any of it. But it sure does make for an intriguing story to tell, and it’s enough to get a fan like myself excited for the possibilities!
The recent report goes on to offer information on some of the looks of the characters, including a new hairdo that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will be sporting. Apparently the God of Thunder will have a shaved head for at least part of the film. They also say that the look of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will be changed up as well. The character is traditionally a blonde-haired warrior in the comics, but here "she’ll be wearing war paint on her face, much like a Native American warrior, which should be an interesting take on this variation of the character.”
The more I learn about this movie, the more excited I get. I hope a lot of these rumors turn out to be true because it sure does sound like it would make for a great film and an epic adventure.
Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay written by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle, and Stephany Folsom. Yost and Kyle both worked on the developing the story for the Planet Hulk animated film back in 2010, so it would make sense that they would carry over some of that stuff into the upcoming film. The movie also stars Jaimie Alexander, Samuel L. Jackson, and Karl Urban, with a few other actors involved as well. It’s set to be released on November 3, 2017.
