Thrilling Trailer for Ron Howard's IN THE HEART OF THE SEA with Chris Hemsworth
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Ron Howard's thrilling new epic adventure movie In the Heart of the Sea. The incredible-looking movie is is based on a book by Nathaniel Philbrick that tells the disastrous, true story that inspired the classic tale of Moby Dick. The movie follows a Nantucket whaling ship called the Essex, which was stalked and destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. The crew was stranded thousands of miles from home, and they did whatever they could to survive during the 90 days that they were lost.
Howard in one of my favorite directors. The guy knows how to tell a great story on film. This first trailer is insanely awesome, and I can't wait to see this film! It also boasts an impressive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson, and Jordi Molla. Here's the official synopsis:
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
The film opens in theaters on March 13th, 2015.
