Today in Obvious News: Young Lando Calrissian Will Appear in Lucasfilm's Young Han Solo Movie

I feel like our readers are all smart enough that I probably shouldn't even have to write this article at all, but here goes. TheWrap has reported that Lucasfilm is searching for an actor to play the role of young Lando Calrissian opposite Alden Ehrenreich in Phil Lord and Chris Miller's young Han Solo movie. The outlet says that "the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice."

In my mind, this is one of the most obvious pieces of "news" in 2016. Did anyone seriously think that Disney and Lucasfilm would make a young Han Solo movie and NOT include Lando, one of the only characters who actually spends screen time in the original trilogy talking about how he spent time with Han in the time before those movies began? If so, congrats on being surprised by this. For everyone else, continue on as you were.

I'm just frustrated because the report doesn't offer any information about who the studio is considering for the role, just the idea that the role is there to be filled. Again, this seems like a complete and utter given, something so clearly self-evident that it doesn't even deserve commenting on until we have some more information to drive the conversation. So let's jump ahead to the fun part: who do you think would be an interesting choice to don Billy Dee Williams' flowing cape and play a young Lando in a live action movie? Is Michael B. Jordan too obvious? Sound off with your thoughts below.
