Tom Cruise Confirmed For THE MUMMY Reboot, Which Has Been Delayed

It's been rumored for a few months that Tom Cruise would star in Universal's reboot of The Mummy, and now the studio has made it official — but they've also delayed the film for three more months. The film, which was originally supposed to come out this April before being bumped to March of 2017, is now set for a June 9th, 2017 release.

Variety brings us the news, though there's no indication of what character Cruise will portray. He will apparently "play a major part in development," which essentially makes him a player in Universal's writers room dedicated to relaunching the classic Universal Monsters like Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and more into their own modern cinematic universe.

Alex Kurtzman is directing The Mummy, which stars Kingsman breakout Sofia Boutelle as the title villain and will take place in modern day. To read more about what we know of the film so far, click here.
