Tom Holland Says SPIDER-MAN Sequel Talks are Happening and Joining The Avengers Again Is Still Up in the Air

Once Marvel and Sony struck a deal with Spider-Man and we saw him in Captain America: Civil War, I thought that he was 100% a part of the MCU and that we would see him return in the upcoming Avengers films. Not so fast.

While at the New York Film Festival premiere of his latest movie, The Lost City of Z, Holland talked about it and said that's still to be determined. He told Variety:

“It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

So maybe the deal that was originally made was for Civil War and the development of the solo films like Spider-Man: Homecoming? Now a new deal has to be struck for any future involvement in the Avengers films. I'm sure we'll end up seeing him in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, but I just thought maybe the deal to appear in those films were already solidified. I guess not!

In a separate interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Holland was asked about his upcoming film projects, and he revealed that conversations were already happening regarding a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. He said,

“My next project, I can’t tell you about, but we’ve just finished ‘Spider-Man’ and we’re talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we’re going,”

That's as much info as you're going to get about the sequel at this point. I've extremely curious to see how exactly Spider-Man evolves in the MCU. It's going to be a lot of fun to watch the character grow over the next ten years just like we've seen with Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest of the Avengers team.
