Tragedy Strikes! Discord Groovy Bot Is Going Away August 30

YouTube has sent a cease and desist letter to the creator of the popular Discord music bot Groovy who has agreed to shut it down August 30. Groovy was installed on over 16 million servers, so to say it is popular would be an understatement.

It did, however, violate YouTube’s terms of service “including modifying the service and using it for commercial purposes,” a YouTube spokesperson writes to The Verge. Sadly this will impact millions of users, including my own Dungeons & Dragons groups who rely on this to play music for the group.

Hopefully, another music bot that doesn’t violate terms of service will rise up and be made just as good as Groovy. Do you use Groovy in Discord? Do you have another music player that you plan to use instead?
