Trailer for Simon Pegg's Sci-Fi Comedy ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING
A trailer has been released for Simon Pegg's upcoming sci-fi comedy called Absolutely Anything. In the story his character Neil is given the power to do anything he wants thanks to a counsel of aliens to see if he will use the absolute power for good. Of course, upon discovering the powers, some of the first things that he decides to do are give himself a better looking body, a better look at his hot downstairs neighbor (played by Kate Beckinsale), and gives his dog the ability to talk.
The movie comes from the minds behind the classic comedy troupe Monty Python. Terry Jones directed the film, and it also stars Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, John Cleese, and Michael Palin as the aliens in the movie. The film kind of reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "Mr. Dingle, the Strong," in which aliens come down to earth and give an ordinary man superhuman strength to see what he does with it.
The movie looks incredibly fun, and here's the synopsis:
Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher (Pegg) who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by Cleese, Gilliam, Jones, Palin & Idle), watching him from space.
As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him along the way.
Mishap after mishap finally leads him to the ultimate conundrum that all men dread and at which many have failed….should he choose the girl… or the dog… ?
The movie will be released in the U.K. on August 14th. There's no U.S. release date yet.
