Trailer for Jeff Bridges' THE GIVER
I've been looking forward to getting our first real look at Jeff Bridges' big screen adaptation of The Giver. Today we have the first trailer for the movie, and I love what I see. It's pretty cool to see this story that I've imagined for so long brought to life. I think they nailed the tone of it perfectly. I swear that Bridges may have been born to play this role. The movie also stars Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgård, and even Taylor Swift. Everyone looks like they do a great job in their roles.
The story is set in a "colorless dystopian society that enforces Sameness and fears freedom. All memory of human history has been erased, emotion does not exist, and citizens' professions are chosen for them."
Thwaites is playing Jonas, the "community's Receiver of Memories who spends his days being mentored by the Giver (Bridges), who teaches him to confront and understand the lies that inform society. As Jonas comes to grips with living an unsheltered existence, he begins to acquire a taste for freedom and honesty, becoming an outcast in the process."
The movie will be released in theaters on August 15th.
