Transformers Films Have Been Plotted Out For the Next 10 Years

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have big plans for the Transformers film franchise. We know that Transformers 5 is moving forward, as is an animated origin film that takes place on the planet Cybertron. This is just the beginning of what these studios plan on doing, though.

As we've learned in the past, a whole team of writers have been brought on board to plan out the future of the franchise, and during a speech in Cannes, Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. Davis said that they've plotted out the next 10 years of the franchise. He says:

“Well, you’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners. In fact, we just finished, as some of you may have read, just an incredible experience. We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time. Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and written a bunch of great movies. And they plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

The writers that are a part of this team include Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), who will script the animated film. Then there's The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner (Lost), Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk), Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Christina Hodson (Black List), Steven DeKnight (Daredevil), and Lindsey Beer, who is a science major at Stanford, who has also written original specs for sci-fi and fantasy stories.

They've got some talented writers on board to help develop these films, but it's hard to be excited since most of the previous films have been disappointing. I just don't see them getting any better. Out of all the projects that have been announced so far, though, the one I'm most excited for is the animated origin film.

Michael Bay is expected to come back and direct Transformers 5 again with Mark Wahlberg starring.

Stephen J. Davis will discuss how the world famous toy company has transformed itself into a 360º entertainment provider, extending its brands across a range of experiences including film, TV, digital, music, licensing, theme parks and live events. Stephen J.
